ten days

There are only ten days left in September – can you believe that?!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are moving at the end of this month. That means we only have ten more mornings here on Erne Avenue. Ten more family walks around the neighborhood. Ten more nights of bedtime snuggles in Lyla’s nursery. And as I sit here and think about it, ten doesn’t seem like a very big number at all.

If these walls could talk they would tell stories of dance-offs and dinner parties. Of quiet nights spent catching up on our favorite TV shows and of not-so-quiet nights with a sleepless newborn. They might tell you how I cried tears of happiness hearing our daughter laugh for the first time or about the times I’ve cried my eyes out about having to say “goodbye” (yes, I’m a crier).

I’m sad to be leaving our little blue house. This is our first home together in Hawaii. It’s where I found out I was pregnant. It’s where we entertained family and friends. It’s where we brought our sweet girl home to.

But I’m excited too. I am confident that this is what we are supposed to be doing at this point in our lives and I’m looking forward to making memories in our new place.

There are lots of things I will miss about this house (and also things that I wont – like our terrible tile floors) and so, as a way for me to gradually build up to “goodbye”, I’ve decided to do a “top ten” countdown of sorts. For each our last ten days in our little blue house, I’ll be sharing a piece of our home that is significant to me.

If you are along for the ride, I hope you enjoy! If I’m the only one here, that’s ok too. I’m looking forward to looking back (ha!) on these past two years and slowly preparing myself for “goodbye”.
