While Grandpa K was visiting back in February, he bought the kids a box of BeanBoozled jelly beans. All of the jelly beans look delicious but half of them are nasty flavors. Are you eating a chocolate flavored bean or will it taste like canned dog food? Toasted marshmallow or stink bug? Coconut or spoiled milk? You’ve gotta try to find out!
The kids loved it. Grandpa K not so much. Mom wouldn’t play 😉
Back in November we spent the weekend at White Plains with some of our best friends. Since we have another weekend planned at the end of next month, I figured it was time to get this video done 😉
^^ Etta Rae now walks around the house asking “Mommy, where are you?!” and it is the cutest thing ever
I haven’t posted on this blog since May. Eight months!
Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t.
a little insanely busy since the last time I posted – we packed up and sold our home, we had a nice, long trip to the UP and we found our way back to Hawaii. There have been lots of ups and downs and happy in betweens. I captured a lot of those moments in our “1 second everyday” video…
While I don’t feel like I have an obligation to post here, I am a little disappointed that I haven’t been keeping up because, more than anything, I use this blog as a place to keep memories for our family. I regularly go back and look at old posts. My kids love watching the videos that I make. And now I have this huge gap. (insert eye roll emoji)
I haven’t decided yet if I will go back and fill in some of the gaps or if I will just keep moving forward. Either way, I’m excited to be back. If you keep up with the blog, I’m happy to have you along for the ride!
Since we got our Disneyland Annual Passes last November, the kids have been dying to bring Alex. Thanks to my sweet friend, Lisa, we were able to make that happen last week.
We had a lot of fun together. Family time is so precious.
One of Lyla’s favorite things to do is watch the videos that I put together up on our TV. I’m always happy to use our screen time to look back on some of our fun memories.
This is an oldie (pre-kid!) hike that we did with our friends. Trail overlooks Hanauma Bay. We went at sunrise and a pod of whales put on a show for us.

Long weekends are the best.
We kept ourselves busy this weekend with a trip to the Bishop Museum…
…an all-day beach picnic…
…an impromptu backyard dinner/pool time at a friend’s house…
and some relaxation time on our favorite North Shore beach…
How did you spend your holiday weekend?
Our biggest girl turned three!
For weeks leading up to her birthday, the only thing she asked us for a pink birthday party – so we delivered 😉 We started the morning with a pink breakfast – strawberry banana smoothies, cinnamon rolls (with pink icing for the birthday girl), fruit, bacon and eggs. Her presents were wrapped in pink paper – one of which was a pink bathing suit to wear to her party at the beach.
We met friends at the beach and enjoyed each other’s company, pizza and birthday cake. (and the unexpectedly cool weather was very much enjoyed by this heavily pregnant mama)
Simple was the name of the game this year. No Pinterest-worthy crafts were made. I used artificial flowers on our breakfast table. The cinnamon rolls came from a can. We had pizza delivered to the beach. We ordered her cake from Safeway. I brought Lyla with me to Party City to buy her party favors and I let her choose the cheesiest pink & purple leis and plastic birthday crown.
She was happy, we were happy, it was a great day all around.
