Over Labor Day weekend I made the trek across the Pacific to join some family and friends at the Happiest Place on Earth.
We had an awesome time. We stayed on site at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time (love). We visited both parks which were surprisingly empty for a holiday weekend (love). We ate lots of good food (love). And we danced the night away at the Mad T Party (again, love).
I am very thankful that I was able to make the quick trip and am equally thankful for the house, family, husband and dog I came home too. Life is good.
Over the weekend we had the pleasure of attending the wedding of our dear friend Kim. The ceremony and reception were held at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s picturesque North Shore.
Kim was a rockin’ DIY bride – she made the centerpieces, the favors and even the fans for guest’s at the ceremony. Her wedding was perfectly personalized and I was honored that she asked me to help with the final set-up while she and her bridesmaids got their hair and make-up done.
This wedding was very intimate and was one of the truest examples of two families coming together as one that I have ever seen. There were multiple times that I was moved to tears but the moment that outshone them all was when Kim danced hula for her groom. It was absolutely beautiful.
By no means was I the professional videographer for the evening but I did put together a short video of some of the wedding highlights. To Kim and James: I wish you nothing but lifelong happiness. Thank you for including us in your special day. Enjoy your honeymoon in the most magical place on earth!

Today is a pretty special day. No, it’s not my birthday nor is it our anniversary. But it is a Sunday – and I’m off! This never happens. To say that I am excited would be an understatement. I know some of you are reading this and thinking “so what, you are off on a Sunday, big deal”. But like I said before, this never happens and I’m feeling like a “real” person (haha)
So I did what any “real” person does on any given Sunday – I went to brunch ! After a few quick errands that we needed to take care of, Alex and I headed to Waikiki to have brunch at Hula Grill which was a first for both of us.
We pulled up to the Outrigger hotel, valeted the truck and made our way upstairs. We were quickly seated with an awesome view of the (rather flat) ocean and Diamond Head.
Alex ordered the kalua pork hash and I went with the crab & spinach omelette.
I love spending sweet mornings with my husband. Pair that with breakfast, which is easily my favorite meal of the day, and you have one happy lady.
The past few days here were spent putting some finishing touches on our first celebration in a box.
We are so excited about this project! So excited that we can’t help but offer a sneak peak here on the blog 😉
We hope your Saturday was relaxing as Rocco’s.
Starting a business, building a website and trying to come up with regular blog content is no joke.
We’ve been busy here at the Byrd house. But it’s a good busy, an exciting busy. Since our official launch last month, I have sat down at my desk countless times to write that “perfect” first blog post only to change my mind halfway through or to second-guess my chosen topic. And then yesterday I came across an article that said the only way to get your blog started is to just start – which makes so much sense it’s almost silly.
I’m going to make an honest attempt to worry less about my chosen topics, my writing style, the blog layout, my punctuation and my grammar. Instead, I will share my thoughts with my readers. (you are out there somewhere, right?) Of course there is still a lot to be done, and countless revisions to be made. But for now, this is what I have. And it’s time to start.
So as I sit here drinking my pink moscato, I raise my vintage floral wine glass to you. Thanks for joining me on this adventure from the beginning.
Welcome to our blog! We are truly happy you stopped by. More blog posts are to come soon so stay tuned
